Check out the feature article on Josie in the LA Times/Burbank Leader: http://www.burbankleader.com/articles/2008/11/01/entertainment/gnp-actress01.1.txt (you'll have to cut and paste the addy...sorry...) It features Josie in the newest Banshee play The Year of the Hiker. Anyone in town, you'll be quite impressed with the whole cast - and it's quite a departure from Josie's usual roles...you will be so glad you did.<BR>
DESPERATE!
Housewives, that is! Look for Josie on the two hour finale of Desperate Housewives....she plays a policewoman with Dana Delany - for those of you who are DH fans, that's all that can be said for now. The scene is at the very top of the episode...still not sure if it's the first or second hour of the finale, but sit tight......
Awards and recognition...
Loyal Women has now garnered awards and nominations from the Los Angeles Drama Critics Association and LA Weekly Awards for Best Ensemble and Production...Theatre Banshee also won the LADCC award for best season for a small theatre, 2008-2008.
Add Coach to the hyphen!
In addition to just being cast In Theatre Banshee's US Premiere of LOYAL WOMEN (opening October 26th, 2007 - check back for updates), Josie will now be holding private coaching sessions. A former teacher with other prestigious acting schools, she's now on her own! Email her at jozaphoenix@gmail.com for more information.
More Boards! More TV!
Josie's once again landed a guest star - this time it was for CSI:NY and ran last Thanksgiving weekend (2006). Hopefully, it will re-run for those who missed it. Currently, she's playing Mistress Quickly in Henry IV Part I at The Banshee. It runs until April 15th, (2007) but she'll be leaving 2 weeks early to do a world premiere of Ian Cohen's play, Bertrand Priest, at the Arkansas Rep in Little Rock. A very exciting venture - the lead in a very innovative, funny and thought provoking play by a New York playwright. GO SEE HENRY at the Banshee - it's a rolicking drinking swordfighting kind of thing, and Shakespeare abounds! www.theatrebanhsee.org
And Working Again!
Josie guest stars on CSI, airing this April 27th (2006). Her mom was visiting on set from Buffalo, and for fun, the cast suggested she step in as a background player in Josie's scene. Needless to say, all of Buffalo will be watching...
Eclipsed Closed - but what a show...
If you caught this one, thank you so much for sharing in this incredible story based on true events. Still one of the best roles and theatre experiences of Josie's theatre career. Eclipsed opened to rave reviews from Backstage West, LA Weekly, LA Times, and an incredible one in The Daily Variety. Check out all the reviews by audiences and critics alike, along with cast and company information at www.theatrebanshee.org.
Working Again...
The hit TV show 24 just hired Josie as CTU field agent Mara Tyler. The episode aired January 23rd...the editing gods were good. The buzz is that it will be a recurring role... Cross your fingers...
Banshee on the Boards in 2006
"Eclipsed", Banshee's 10 year anniversary is playing now, and runs for 6 weeks, closing on March 19th, 2006. Josie plays the role of Briget in this explosive drama about the women of Ireland's Magdalene Laundries. Produced in 1995 as its west coast premiere, both critics and audiences acclaimed it as a grand maiden voyage for Theatre Banshee. If you're in town, don't miss it. Go to www.theatrebanshee.org for details.
More Banshee Tracks...
Critics city wide, print and virtual alike, praised MINE EYES HATH SEEN, Theatre Banshee's last show, a world premiere which played at the Gene Bua Theatre in Burbank this year. Josie had a variety of roles in this piece which depicted the American Civil War through the words of the men and women who lived it. Theatre Banshee procured a grant for this show which is a series of letters, speeches and articles written by actual soldiers, slaves, women and politicians of the era. Word has it that a version of it will be produced again in 2006. Check out the Banshee website at www.theatrebanshee.org for pix and the full scoop on the Banshee!
